While the PlayStation TV may essentially just be a PS Vita inside its casing, unfortunately it’s not capable of running every title that is available for Sony’s wonder handheld. There’s no getting away from the fact that the PlayStation TV has no touch screen or rear touch pad but there’s still a lot that will run quite happily either just with the DualShock 3 or DualShock 4 or by using the emulated pointer available or making use of the DualShock 4’s touchpad for games that do need touch controls.
When it comes to knowing what can be run on the console, here at Vita Player we’ll be testing as many titles as possible in order to bring you a “real world” checklist of what does and doesn’t work on the system and we’ll update this as often as we can as new games come along or patches are brought out making more titles compatible. Please note that all of the titles listed here are products released in the EU – there will be differences between territories in terms of PlayStation TV compatibility so please only use this as a rough guide if you live outside of the EU. For AAA titles, where possible we have based our tests on physical copies rather than downloads from the PSN Store. There are many more games that do work in the EU but these are the ones that we have tested here at Vita Player and we will only include titles we have tested personally as a team.
There will be rare occasions where we will test international versions of games. These will happen if games are only released in physical form outside of the UK or if we have been unable to source / test a UK copy but we will endeavour to obtain a UK copy of the game as quickly as we can. At the moment we do not know if compatability is locked to the version of the game itself or the region which the PSN account is registered to which is why we have pointed out these versions of the games that we have tested. In addition we will also be testing all of the physical games released by Limited Run Games, Eastasiasoft and other publishers who specialise in short-run limited edition physical release games.
There are titles listed here that we have logged as being compatible with the PlayStation TV that do not appear in the PSTV’s own version of the PSN Store which is missing a large number of available titles at present and isn’t representative of the full range available for the console. These are games that you will need to purchase on the web-based store or on a PS3 / Vita and then download them using a PS3 or PS Vita and access them by using your existing memory card on the PlayStation TV. Alternatively, once purchased you can access them on your PlayStation TV through the Store and checking your Download List where your purchases will be available.
One thing that we would like to stress is that you should not use the PlayStation Network Store or Sony’s previously published list as a definitive guide when it comes to PlayStation TV compatibility. Sony’s official list has not been updated since November 2014 (and this fails to mention many of the nuances we have found with our own tests that we believe need bringing to your attention with many games) and many games listed on the PSN Store as being incompatible are actually compatible with the console (both of the Joe Danger games and the digital edition of Killzone: Mercenary, for example).
To ensure that our guide is as complete as possible, we have also included PlayStation Mobile titles which Sony have failed to mention in relation to the PlayStation TV both in their marketing or their own official compatibility list and despite the format being removed from sale we wanted to include them here for completeness and accuracy. However, if you haven’t already activated your PSTV for PlayStation Mobile then you won’t be able to use any times that you may have already downloaded to your PS Vita.
There are two additional things that we have done with this guide to help all of you looking to find the best buys for your PlayStation TV. First, wherever possible we have identified what games offer simultaneous multiplayer support. Secondly we have also indicated which games still require touch controls to play the game. Despite not having access to the Vita’s touch screen or rear touch panel, these can still be played using the emulated touch controls with the DualShock3 and DualShock4 but we have identified the games here for you.
Finally, we have also included titles that have now been deleted from the PSN Store but that we have also been able to test for those of you who may still have these available for your one of your current systems. If you are looking for a list of games compatible with the PlayStation TV in the US, our friends at Vita Reviews have compiled one and you can find it at http://vitareviews.net/playstation-tv-compatible-games-north-america/

We have currently tested 1,016 titles across all the formats supported by the PlayStation TV:- PS Vita (383), PSP (59), PS One Classics (52), Minis (116) and PlayStation Mobile (406).
I can’t get jet set radio to work here. Sure it is supported in Europe?
It could be a localised issue with Jet Set Radio not being approved for PSTV in your country. As a whole, games generally get approved by territory – US, Japan, EU – but there will be times when there will be variations on a country-by-country basis and this could be one of those instances where JSR will only work in certain countries.
I got duke nukem megaton working by installing from the ps3, controls have to be config as screen swiping is needed to change weapons.
PS Vita
Natural Doctrine – Yes
So I just got the pstv, it was half price, kinda disappointing, can’t believe the amount of games that don’t work even with the Dualshock 4 Controller and touch pad selected as active.
Are Sony ditching this already? It’s only out 5 months here. Even my digital copy of Megadrive classics won’t work. Really wanted to play uncharted golden abyss on this thing.
Don’t have a vita cause I hated playing on the small screen tbh.
The MegaDrive Classics works fine and is one of the games that is listed on the Compatability List as being a Yes and was one of the earlier ones we checked out. I don’t know if it’s a US copy of the game that you are trying but certainly the EU works (which is what we are testing).
With regards to what does / doesn’t work, the general rule we have found is that games that use Vita-specific features (camera, microphone, motion sensors and front/rear touch) won’t work and some games that need the front screen as well. Games are being patched all the time but we advise people not to look at Sony’s list or use the PSN Store for guidance as these are both inaccurate. Also we must stress that our own list ISN’T complete – it’s just the games that we have tested as a team. We won’t include games that people have told us about because we want to be 100% sure that EU copies work. We currently have three team members checking games and a fourth will be doing so soon. We test games as soon as we get them but it’s down to finances – the more games we can afford to buy, the more we can test!
If you look at our list though there are a LOT of games that work on the PSTV.
My daughter is Trying to play Lego Ninjago:shadow of Ronin on the PSTV and she has got to sections dependent on the touchscreen and can advance no further in the game, which essentially means my daughter can no longer play it. She’s very upset…
I’m not sure what controller you are using at the moment, but both the DualShock 3 and DualShock 4 can emulate the PS Vita’s touchscreen. We normally recommend that people use a DualShock 4 with the PSTV because of games that require multitouch (The Amazing Spider-Man, for example) but I have played several LEGO games that need touch controls and found the DualShock 4 to work perfectly. The touchpad on the DS4 works well but if you are using the DualShock 3 you can activate the touchscreen mode by pressing L3 (pushing down on the left analogue stick) and a pointer will appear on screen. You can then move this around using the left stick. Press X to tap or hold X down to “drag” your finger across the screen. Once you let go of X it will turn off the “touchscreen” so you will need to press it again but obviously if you use the DualShock 4 you can simply use the touchpad on the controller.
Killzone mercenaries (digital) works.
For digital games (that’s all I’ve played), after downloading, select the game by pressing X. A lot of times a patch/update is available. There will be a yellow arrow pointing down at the top of the screen next to the icons for game manual, ps plus cloud storage, etc. Only after you download and install that will you know for certain whether the game will run on Ps tv.
In the case of Killzone: Mercenary I believe what happened is that our team member who re-tested the game from the PlayStation Plus release had downloaded it and then tested it prior to downloading the patch and as such only tested the “raw” incompatible version of the game (which is why the guide had been updated to alter the status of the game). As a rule we always check games for patches and updates prior to adding them to the list and then periodically re-testing titles so we can keep this list as up-to-date as possible.
i have a playstation tv and i want to play crash bandicoot’s. What i need… A UK user? European user? US? What region… Im trying to download it but says no compatible.
Help please…
Could use some help in understanding this: just bought a PS4, considered buying a PSTV as well until I saw Sonys list and realized that PS1 titles like Final Fantasy IX was unavailable. Is that incorrect? If I buy a PSTV (EU) I acctually will be able to download and play FFIX through my PSTV?
Unfortunately in many cases Sony’s official list is either missing a lot of games, has incorrect details or both. In the case of Final Fantasy, all of the PS One Classics work on the PSTV so that covers FFV – FFIX.
Ninja gaiden 2 sigma plus also works I’ve been able to play that on the PSTV …
I can confirm Sonic and Allstars racing transformed works on the pstv I have the digital version in the U.S. if that makes a difference.
Does anyone know if virtual tennis 4 will work with the ps TV? I want to by it so I can not play it on my vita. If not when could we expect it to work?
I have it, I’ll let you know ASAP.
No, even after applying the update, VT4 doesn’t work. I have an EU copy.
What about Arcana Heart 3 Love Max ? Thanks
You know what? I have a PSVita and every games works on it. So fuck the VitaTV. Period.
Great comment! You’re the greatest! HAHAHAHAH.
I love the bottom half of the internet.
Haha you’re right an all! Also all my psp games work on my psp.
I like the idea of vita tv, but it’s just being ignored by Sony way too much, and I have one, never turn it on though. But one day maybe I will be able to hack it for something. So I’ll hang onto it
Hi all,
Please can you help me. My nephews can’t make the robot in ninjago shadow of ronin in part 3 the junk yard as the arrow does not show on the ps tv. I’ve tried everything and had no luck so your help would be much appreciated. Im using ps4 dualshock 4 control.
Thanks.
No need to reply as I’ve worked it out.
Not sure if this list is still being maintained but I’ve only just stumbled upon it. Got a few to add to the list:
PSP
Astonishia Story – Yes
Blazing Soul Accelate – Yes
Half-Minute Hero – Yes
Harvey Moon: Innocent Life – Yes
Patapon 3 – Yes
Star Wars Battlefront: Elie Squadron – Yes
Valhalla Knights – Yes
Final Fantasy VIII (PsOne) and Dead or Alive: Paradise (PSP), work.
Do y’all know of any ps4 co op compatible games.
Hi – You’ve said that LEGO® Ninjago: Nindroids works, but the Playstation store states it definitely doesn’t work on the PSTV. Can you confirm it does work?
Tested Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness PSP and it works.
What exactly does it mean when you guys say “Yes, needs touch controls”? Does it work or not? I wanna get a PSTV for Shinobido 2 but if i hit a wall somewhere because of the touch thing then I dont want it
You can add Chasm to the list. It works wonderfully on the PS TV. I got it in the NA region. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.
