First Impressions: Broken Age (PS Vita)

The guys over at Double Fine have been kind enough to provide me with a copy of Broken Age, Tim Schaffer’s new point and click adventure. Tim Schaffer is of course the mastermind behind such classics as Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island games (remember when LucasArts made good stuff?)

I am about half way through the first act of both characters (the story is divided in two characters, and two acts for each character).

I am thoroughly enjoying it. The storytelling is engaging, the puzzles are fun, and the story arcs are different but interconnected at the same time. It is almost an interactive book, more so than a video game. A very relaxing experience. There’s no penalty for “dying” (you don’t actually die).

I am liking Shay’s story marginally better, but both characters are relatable and well written.

From a technical point of view, the game runs very smoothly, and it looks amazing. I can’t wait to see more of it. The voice acting is phenomenal.

Now, how do I get that last golden egg…
