First Impressions: Saturday Morning RPG

Saturday Morning RPG has hit the Vita, and it’s coming with the 5th episode on tow.

I’ve been waiting for this game for a long time. I’m a child of the 80’s, so when I heard that the main character’s name was Marty, and that he rides a pink hoverboard (a real hoverboard, not what the kids of today call hoverboards but are really just Segways without a steering column), I was sold.

After watching the trailers and such, though, I had my doubts: the art style seemed to be all over the place, and the combat system looked weak.

Boy was I wrong.

I’m about an hour into the first episode, and I’m having a hell of a time. I’m already discovering which weapons are the most powerful (and it’s awesome because it’s the craziest ones), and I’m hooked on the story arcs (including that huge nod to Tron, which made me laugh hard).

So, yeah. There are a couple of things I’d like to change: I wish I could skip the intro animation for battles, and the enemy variety could do with something other than “let’s paint this lizard orange”.

I’m nitpicking though. If I’m completely honest, I’m having a hell of a lot of fun.
