While there’s nothing confirmed right now, here at Vita Player we have been talking with our good friends over at The Vita Lounge over the last couple of weeks about the possibility of planning a dedicated show here in the UK for PS Vita gamers. While the PS Vita has been under-represented at events like EGX, E3 and most other major gaming events, we do believe that there is the demand and potential for the Vita to support an event of its own so we’re now looking at all aspects of how we can make this possible.
With over 10 million PS Vita owners worldwide and 3 million of those based in Europe alone, there’s certainly a large enough userbase to be able to run an event and draw enough gamers to make an event a success. We’re not looking at creating a massive show which will be packed with nothing but game reveals but something that will be community driven with the support of gamers, PS Vita fan sites, developers, publishers, physical and online traders and more. If we can make this happen, it will be lead by The Vita Lounge and we’ll be bringing our experience and knowledge to it (I’ve been running Auto Assembly, Europe’s largest Transformers convention for the last 15 years so have plenty of event experience to bring to the table) and we have plenty of contacts within the Vita industry to help.
Several developers have already expressed an initial interest in the show depending on us working out the details including Laughing Jackal and Futurlab but for now we obviously don’t want to say too much or commit ourselves to anything until we know what we can and can’t do at this stage but we hope that with the support of PS Vita enthusiasts, our fellow Vita websites and developers everywhere we can work to make this something special.
We must stress right now that this is only in the early concept stages right now so there’s nothing solid but we do want to try to make this happen with your support. We have set up a dedicated area on our forum to get your ideas and input on what you would like from the show and you can join in the talk in the PS Vita Live 2015 Forum (it’s open to anyone to view but only forum members can post) and we’re also talking about it openly on Twitter (#PSVitaLive2015) so please join in the discussion.
If this is something that you would be interested in – as a fan, dealer, exhibitor or if you just want to be involved in any way, please help spread the word online, via social media and anywhere else so we can try to make this a reality.
