First Impressions: Zen Pinball 2 – Star Wars Rebels (PS Vita)

Zen Pinball 2 Star Wars Rebels PS Vita

I’m a sucker for all things Star Wars. I have been right since 1977 when I was blown away seeing the Star Destroyer fly over Tatooine on the big screen when I was a kid so no matter what it is, any game with those two words on it is already off to a flying start. Zen have had a fantastic track record with all of their Star Wars tables so far but initially I approached this table with some trepidation not having seen any episodes of the latest television series, Star Wars Rebels, to join the ever-expanding Star Wars universe…

I needn’t have worried though. The visuals themselves have managed to adhere to the same artistic style seen in the series itself (and Star Wars: Clone Wars before it) and with the familiar music and sound effects that we’ve all come to know and love over the last four decades I immediately felt at home playing the game. Regardless of my unfamiliarity with the characters or specific storylines, I felt right at home with the game generally and it helped me settle right down so I could concentrate on just playing them game.

And that’s where Zen Studios have managed to deliver yet another great table. There’s plenty of variety in each of the table’s missions and game modes and the on-table animations and interaction with the characters never feels forced or out of place. While there are times while you may be engaged in combat or some other mission, it still never stops feeling like a pinball game at the same time – a difficult balance to maintain.

It isn’t quite the best pinball table that Zen have released, but it’s another worthy addition to Star Wars Pinball and a must for fans.
