As one of the more expensive games to hit PlayStation Mobile, you’d expect this to be something special to justify a price tag that puts it alongside many indie titles on the PS Vita… and it must be said that Boot Hill Heroes Part One more than lives up to those expectations.
Planned to be part one of a three part saga, this is a western-themed RPG taking inspiration from the RPGs seen on the old 8-bit Nintendo consoles so for those of you old enough to have played any of those you’ll immediately feel at home with the play and visual style of the game. Here, you take on the role of a young boy who – along with a group of friends – is trying to find out why his hometown has been attacked by a nearby group of native Americans. Visiting other towns, the desert, meeting other characters and – as you would expect – facing off against bandits and creatures inhabiting this Wild West territory, it’s a classic RPG that will keep you entertained for hours.
It’s such a shame that we won’t get to see the conclusion to the saga gracing PlayStation Mobile but don’t let that put you off buying Part One as it’s still a superbly atmospheric RPG with plenty of action and full of charm and character. Hopefully we’ll see the complete series ported to the Vita in the future but in the meantime you don’t want to let this one ride off in the sunset…
