While the PS4 is only a recent addition to the console market in Japan, it’s already showing a strong presence in the market and as the price cuts did last year, the PS4 seems to be having a positive effect on sales of the Vita as well…
Famitsu have reported that the PS4 now has an installed userbase of 405,546 after just three weeks of sale in Japan and reports have been coming in of hardware shortages already. Across the board the console has been performing incredibly well in the hardware charts and the most recent hardware charts for the week ending 9th March are:
- PS4 – 30,766
- PS Vita – 29,374
- Nintendo 3DS LL – 21,580
- PS3 – 10,772
- Nintendo 3DS – 9,336
- Wii U – 8,128
- PSP – 2,989
- PS Vita TV – 1,335
- Xbox360 – 206
While sales for the Vita TV are relatively low right now, the Vita does seem to be gaining momentum following the PS4’s release globally. Software sales are also receiving a positive boost for the Vita in Japan with the release of the latest game in the Soul Sacrifice series:-
