Top 10 Zen Pinball 2 Tables for the PS Vita

Super League Football PS Vita 07

Super League Football

It’s an unlikely combination, but Super League Football managed to recreate football incredibly well in pinball format including the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a real match without the drunks and hooligans! Despite that, Zen Studios have managed to make an incredibly fun table that will appeal to non-football fans as well producing one of their finest tables. If that’s not enough, it’s even available in a choice of teams. Almost the perfect table.

Zen Pinball 2 - The Walking Dead PS Vita 01

The Walking Dead

Based on the game that’s based on the comic, this follows the original five-part season from Telltale Games and transfers it into a pinball table. There are a few minor spoilers if you haven’t played the game it is based on, but the visual style works incredibly well here and if you’re looking for some zombie-busting action, this is the perfect table for you.

Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope

The film that started it all off… this table really captures the spirit of what is for me one of the greatest movies of all time. It has it all – plenty of action, great visuals, the stunning score from John Williams and while it doesn’t feature the original voice cast, the actors who are involved in the game have managed to do a convincing job with their roles. One of the finest and a wonderful tribute to a film that has stood the test of time. Part of the Stars Wars Pinball: Heroes Within pack.

Star Wars Pinball The Force Awakens 1

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

From the pack of the same name, this table sees the movie’s heroine Rey take the lead role as you battle against the New Order and help get BB-8 to the Resistance before it’s too late. With acting from the film’s star Daisy Ridley, great visuals, the chance to control BB-8 and the Star Wars theme playing throughout… well, what more could you ask for?!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This is one of those rarities for Zen Pinball 2 – a table based on a video game from another publisher. Out of almost 80 tables released at the time of writing this, Zen Studios have only worked with other publishers on eight tables prior to the release of Bethesda Pinball. This pack contains tables based on three properties but none match up to the star of the show, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Translating an RPG into a pinball game is a daunting task in itself an Zen Studios could have simply opted to create a fantasy-themed table with Skyrim aesthetics but instead they crafted a complete RPG within a pinball game making it one of the deepest and absorbing pinball tables I have ever played. While I am not a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, I am a fan of RPGs an have been for the last few decades and this delivers on every level. Visuals, atmosphere, game mechanics… it has it all. Character building, combat, experience, skills and equipment in exactly the way you would expect and the blending of the two game genres works seamlessly. This is one of those rare tables that justifies the price of the bundle it is included in on its own. Quite possibly Zen Pinball 2’s finest hour.

The Runners Up…

As this list is updated, some tables will drop out of the Top 10. It doesn’t mean that they’re not great tables, just that we feel that some are even better but so you don’t miss out we’ll keep some of the “best of the rest” featured below…

Zen Pinball 2 Venom Pinball PS Vita 05

Venom

If you’ve got Spider-Man then why not his greatest adversary, Venom? A fast paced table with not one but two main antagonists for our web-slinging hero to take on in the shape of Venom and Carnage. It goes without saying that this looks and sounds superb, but it’s another table that plays like an absolute dream.

So those are my top ten picks, but what are YOUR favourites?
