First Impressions: Heroes of Loot
It’s another perfect example of a game that is definitely better on a handheld, a bit like LEAP’s “Squares”: fantastic in short bursts.

If you own a PS4 and are in the market for a break from the AAA titles coming your way, Xeodrifter on your Vita is a great throwback to the 8-bit gems of yesteryear. And if you, like me, game exclusively on portables, then Xeodrifter will be a fantastic bookend between JRPGs and the odd Nintendo title.
I’ve been looking forward to playing Xeodrifter for a long, long time. I’m a big fan of Mutant Mudds, which I played on my 3DS XL *gasps*. I’m a sucker for 2D platformers (3D platformers BEGONE!) and this seemed like the perfect fit for me.
Already a success on Steam and mobile phones, Heroes of Loot is coming to PS Vita on September 22nd, according to a PS Blog post by Abstraction Games, the house porting the game to our beloved handheld.
There’s a reason I’m writing this review only a day out of hospital. “The Swindle” is a game that I really, really like. I have fun with it. I think that if you like side-scrolling adventure games, you’ll have fun with it, too.
I really wanted to like this game. And maybe that’s the whole moral of the story: Just like everyone else, I wanted Octodad to be something he’s not.
I have to say, I’m liking this game. This is an experience closer to what I wanted Criminal Girls to be. It’s long, but it doesn’t feel repetitive. There’s decent enemy variation, locations change and the battle system evolves.
It’s not perfect, but… I am having fun with it. And that’s usually a good sign.
Another week, another sale, and this is a big one! At least in terms of numbers, as PlayStation is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a sale that spans its history.
What does that mean for Vita and PSTV? Mostly, a mix of legacy titles and some of Vita’s greatest hits.
The ever-so-awesome folks at Curve Digital (one of my favorite developers and publishers in the history of developing and publishing) are bringing “Pumped BMX+” to Vita. And it’s coming soon.
I will continue to battle it out with Barny (I’ve already chummed up with him, see?). I’m sure we’ll end up getting that massive payoff.
In the meantime, unless something catastrophic happens, expect a full, glowing review in the upcoming days.
And here’s to hoping it includes my redemption, because for the time being, I suck at “The Swindle”.
Good thing is, “The Swindle” does not suck at all.
