First Impressions: Velocibox (PS Vita)

I have seen the very depths of Hell. And they are procedurally generated.

Velocibox, developed by Shawn Beck and published by LOOT Interactive, is an endless runner that uses procedural generation to bring a new meaning to the word “difficult”.

You take on the role of, well, a cube. A cube that must traverse through an endless tunnel that is filled with obstacles that will show no mercy. Amongst these endless obstacles are other small cubes that you must collect in order to boost your score and progress to the next level, which only happens to introduce new types of obstacles that are harder to dodge.

Altogether there are nine levels in the Normal mode, however upon completing those nine levels you will unlock Ranked, which is essentially the same but one error will bring you straight back to the first level.

So what do I think so far? This game is definitely not for everyone. During my first hour of playing, I had already reset 677 times. That said, Velocibox is very addictive and enjoyable in short bursts. If you have superhuman reflexes and enjoy a big challenge, Velocibox is for you.

  1. Antony! So glad you’re doing this review! And I’m glad you’re having fun with it. I’m playing the somewhat similarly hellish “Squares”. It’s… ehm… challenging. Haha.

    Welcome to the jungle, brother!
