Best PS Vita Games for new Vita Owners in 2023

Uncharted Golden Abyss PS Vita 04

With people still joining the ranks of PS Vita owners in 2023, many will have missed out on some of the great games released since the console was launched. It could be a bit overwhelming to choose from the myriad of choices available but there’s no need for you to search anymore for what suits you to get you started with some of the classics as we’ve done the hard work for you.

It doesn’t matter if you’re after an online casino game from GGBet or an exciting PS Vita game, here we’ve listed our top picks to get you started with some great PS Vita games.

Persona 4 Golden

Widely regarded as being one of the best RPGs on the Vita, Persona 4 Golden is a must have title. Despite a slow start as the story part of the game sets the scene, we urge you to stick with this one as you can enjoy one of the best PS Vita games available. It’s a superb update of the PlayStation 2 original, offers plenty of depth with more than enough trophies to keep the hardened gamer happy and over 100 hours of gameplay.

Gravity Rush

Offering one of the most unique gameplay elements seen on the Vita, Gravity Rush has it all. Innovative gravity-defying player movement, super visuals in an architecturally stunning environment and a strong lead character in Kat. While the combat can be repetitive at times, this can be forgiven by the strength of the game as a whole package. It’s just a shame that the sequel never made it to the PS Vita.

Uncharted Golden Abyss

Heralded as being one of the PS Vita games that was going to really showcase the power of the system, Uncharted Golden Abyss had a lot to live up to. The Uncharted series was a hit on the PS3 and Sony promised a console quality game and experience on the PS Vita. And to give them credit, this almost delivered. With a great story, remarkable graphics and great gameplay this has stood the time wonderfully and is a technical marvel. The only thing that lets this down is the unnecessary use of the PS Vita’s touch controls which felt like gimmicks rather than an enhancement to the game. But if you can look beyond this, it’s one of the best PS Vita games and a decade after its release it still holds its head up high.

Motorstorm RC

Another one of the early PS Vita games, Motorstorm RC was a digital exclusive title and one that highlighted something unique to the PS Vita and something that’s still in use with the console even today – Cross Buy. Buying the PS Vita version of this game gave you the right to download the PS3 version free or vice versa. It was an superb concept developed by Sony and no doubt boosted Vita game sales immensely, even more so when support was added for PS4 games too.

But back to Motorstorm RC. The latest chapter in the successful arcade racer series, this time taking a top-down view and putting players in charge of radio controlled cars. While the controls took some time to master after playing traditional racers, once you got the hang of it you had a fun game on your hands. With plenty of tracks and challenges to keep you occupied, this one offered fantastic value for money.

Severed

An action game with RPG elements and developed by Drinkbox Studios, creators of Guacamelee, you take on the role of the one-armed warrior Sasha. Her family has gone missing and you’re on a quest to find them in a world filled with your worst nightmares. With stylised visuals, plenty of great action, and character upgrades inspired by RPG mechanics, it’s a great game to sink your teeth into.

Conclusion

This is just the tip of the iceberg and these are some of our favourites to get you started. But no matter what your favourite game genre, you’ll find something for you on the P Vita. But you can rest assured that there will be something in this selection you’ll enjoy to get you started on your PS Vita journey.
