It’s hard to believe that the PS Vita has been around for over six years now, and as a website Vita Player has just celebrated five years online bringing Vita owners a healthy selection of news, reviews and guides for all things Vita. From our humble beginnings we’ve always wanted to make sure that we’ve wanted to cover the whole Spectrum of what was available to PS Vita owners – not just native PlayStation Vita games and apps but everything that would run on the console including PSP, Minis, PSOne Classics and the much-maligned PlayStation Mobile games that most – including Sony – wanted to forget about.
But we’re now entering the Vita’s twilight years. While there are still an incredible amount of new releases heading our way for our beloved console (there are well over a hundred confirmed games coming to the West this year alone), the supply of new games won’t last forever. Bearing that in mind we had to think where Vita Player would be heading for the rest of 2018 and beyond so we’ve taken the decision to think about the site for the future and it’s slightly new direction. From now on we’ll be expanding our coverage to both the PS Vita and PSP (digital and physical) as well as looking at future proofing both consoles and the PlayStation TV, making the most of them in ways that Sony never intended and helping to keep all of your consoles in tip-top condition for the rest of their lives.
We’ll still continue to look at new releases for the systems, but we’ll be bringing in new people to look at the PSP, more retro coverage and looking at the legacy back catalogue for both consoles, homebrew games running on both and the emulation scene on the PSP as well as plenty of tech tips and advice to get the most out of your hardware.
It’s going to be an exciting time ahead and if any of you want to come and be a part of our the newly focused site, we’re going to be looking for new writers to join our team so get in touch!
