Stewart Gilray, Just Add Water founder, passes away aged 51

It is with great sadness that we have to report that Stewart Gilray, founder of development studio Just Add Water, has passed away at the age of 51. Having worked in the industry for most of his life, initially as a programmer in the 8-bit and 16-bit era for major studios such as Core Design, Bullfrog, Psygnosis and many more.

He went on to start Just Add Water in 2006, who specialised in PC and console development, including releasing a number of PS Vita games including Lumo, Volume, Gravity Crash and reviving the popular Oddworld series.

Stewart was admitted to hospital in late Deccember 2021 with COVID, but his health declined rapidly and he was placed into a medically induced coma, from which he sadly did not recover.

Vita Player extends our thoughts and condolences to Stewart’s family and friends at this time.
