News

It’s been an incredible week in Japan for the PS Vita as the much-anticipated game Freedom Wars hit stores and – as expected – gave the Vita a much needed boost in sales. The latest figures for the week ending 29th June, as reported by Famitsu, are:-

  1. PS Vita – 25,521
  2. Nintendo 3DS LL – 22,170
  3. Wii U – 9,010
  4. PS4 – 8,244
  5. PS3 – 7,497
  6. Nintendo 3DS – 4,422
  7. PS Vita TV – 2,247
  8. PSP – 597
  9. Xbox360 – 156

It’s interesting to note here that as well as a the massive rise in sales for the PS Vita, the Vita TV experienced an astonishing increase as well – almost double that of the previous week. Perhaps with the impending release of the hardware in the West that the machine’s future could be on the up…?

On the games front, two of the Top Ten are PS Vita entries. A new entry at number six is Girls und Panzer: Senshado Kiwamemasu! by Bandai Namco selling 37,839 copies but the big story is Sony’s own first party title Freedom Wars snatching the number one spot with a stunning 187,890 sales.
