Vita casino games versus online betting

Whether you prefer to chance your arm with slot machines, sit down at a virtual poker table or indulge in a few spins of the roulette wheel, there are multiple ways to enjoy the casino experience wherever you prefer. So should you opt for a casino game for the Vita or an online casino? Let’s take a look at both options.

The pull of the casino

There’s something wonderfully exciting about the whole casino experience, wherever you play. Merely stepping into a casino provides a frisson of excitement, while playing games results in not just emotional reactions but also physiological ones, such as an elevated heart rate

The same sense of excitement is to be had with online casino games – hence their huge popularity. The total gross gambling yield for the British remote casino sector from April 2018 to March 2019 stood at £5.3 billion (within an overall gross gambling yield of £14.4 billion).

The Vita casino experience

Despite the high level of interest in online casinos, there have been surprisingly few casino games for the Vita. In fact, the closest that the Vita comes to delivering a casino-focused experience is its Pinball Arcade High Roller Casino pinball table. Released in 2014, the game features four different four-ball multi-ball modes, along with six popular casino games (roulette, craps, blackjack, poker, hi-lo and a slot machine).

There’s also a ‘Casino: Lady Luck’ theme, but all that provides is a home-screen theme, rather than any playable content.

The lack of ability to gamble with real money takes the shine off the PS Vita gaming experience for many players – hence the distinct lack of games. While the pinball Vita casino game does what it can to evoke the elegance of the casino atmosphere, it provides a very different experience (in terms of excitement and engagement levels) to playing casino games that involve betting with actual money.

The online casino experience

For those who prefer to play casino roulette, slots, poker and more for real money, the online experience has much to offer. Roulette is one of the most popular online casino games and there are numerous iterations of it available. From Dragon Jackpot Roulette to Live Quantum Roulette, the different gaming experiences each offer their own thrills.

The ability to play casino roulette online is an experience with far more depth to it than there is when playing it on the Vita. It’s the same with online slot machines. There are countless options for those who prefer to visit an online casino as their main casino experience. With poker, too, there are plenty of games to keep players interested, all of them offering real money jackpots, rather than in-game chips that have no value beyond the borders of that game.

In-game versus online

For many players, even the fanciest of in-game casinos can’t rival the thrills of using an online casino that comes with the opportunity to stake real money. Perhaps this is the reason that the Vita’s casino game offering lags so far behind the number of games available for other genres. When the clack of the roulette ball as it bounces around the wheel makes no difference to your life other than your character potentially winning more chips, it simply can’t offer the same exhilaration as when there’s the potential to win big!
