Resident Evil Revelations 2 hitting Vita ‘this summer’

Gio Corsi, writing on the Playstation blog, has put an end to speculation that the PS Vita port of Resident Evil Revelations 2 was dropped.

As the episodic game continues to release on PS3 and PS4, with the final episode only recently released, speculation had mounted that the Vita version of the game had maybe been cancelled, but the recent post confirmed that the port is very much in development.

Interestingly, however, it appears that work has only recently started on the port with Sony unable to commit to a release date for the game apart from the fact that it will release digitally, and sometime in the Summer.

For what should be the biggest release on the platform this year, this is extremely disappointing, both the lack of a physical release and the timing between release on other platforms and Vita.

However, it appears that now the process of converting the game is fully underway and when the game releases it will contain all the episodes of the game, including all relevant DLC released. The game has added gyroscopic targeting to make the game ‘more Vita-centric’.

Clearly we can’t wait for this game to release, but it does seem yet again, that Sony are missing an opportunity to fully promote their hottest properties.

  1. Resident Evil is a bit of a strange one on the Vita… 1 and 2 are available individually for the PS Vita as PS One Classics through the PSN Store but NOT Resident Evil 2. However, you can get a bundle of 1, 2 and 3 from the store that is Vita compatible so you can buy all three games that way! In fact, buying the complete set is cheaper than buying two of them so it’s well worth considering for anyone into the RE series.
