PS Vita port of Strength Of The Sword Ultimate cancelled

As seems to be the norm these days, another crowdfunded game scheduled for the PS Vita has fallen by the wayside. Strength Of The Sword Ultimate was a 3D fighter/brawler from the small Bulgarian development team Ivent. Successfully funded via Kickstarter at the start of 2015 the game was scheduled for release on several platforms – PC, PS4, Mac, Xbox One, WiiU and PS Vita.

A deal was struck with publisher Team 17 who announced in November of that year that they would be releasing the game (including the Vita version). But the game ran into production difficulties. While the PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions are now available, the team have now conceded that no further ports will be released. Admitting personal differences between the team, being over ambitious with their development plans, and underestimating the work involved in producing the game for such a small team, they have accepted that additional ports are not going to be possible.

Backers who have requested versions no longer being released are being offered the option of having codes for other formats or refunds.

Once more it’s sad to see another Vita release cancelled and it’s unlikely to see this picked up by another developer at this late stage. You can read their statement in full at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1145990096/strength-of-the-sword-ultimate/posts/2604388
