PS Vita Continues To Sell Well In Japan

News

Unsurprisingly, despite struggling sales in the West, the PS Vita is continuing to do well in its native Japan holding its ground against the Nintendo 3DS maintaining a healthy second place in the hardware sales charts once again for the week ending 20th July 2014, performing significantly better than both the PS4 and PS3 according to figures reported by Famitsu.

Software sales for the Vita have been bolstered again with new release Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines jumping in at second place in the Japanese games chart with a massive 91,696 sales in its first week but it’s the hardware sales that are worth taking a closer look at:-

  1. 1. Nintendo 3DS XL – 35,581
  2. PS Vita – 27,492
  3. PS3 – 7,315
  4. Wii U – 7,283
  5. Nintendo 3DS – 5,921
  6. PS4 – 5,865
  7. PS Vita TV – 1,847
  8. PSP – 219
  9. Xbox 360 – 102

Unsurprisingly, the PS4 is still flagging with a software catalogue that has still failed to capture the imagination of the Japanese market and it would appear that the PSP is now reaching the end of its lifecycle at retail with sales now approaching that of the XBox 360 where only a few months ago sales were ahead of the Vita TV.
