Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Cancelled On PS Vita

Here at Vita Player we had been eagerly awaiting the Castlevania inspired platform game Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night and following it’s progress as one of its backers from its original Kickstarter campaign. Following the release of the prequel game recently we were looking forward to the full game in the not too distant future, but sadly devrloper Koji Igarashi has announced in the last half hour that the PS Vita version is no longer being released.

He cites Sony’s future plans for the console and the cessation of physical game production as the main reasons in the latest backer update.

The second announcement is that the game will no longer launch on PlayStation Vita. This decision is largely due to Sony’s plans to discontinue the Vita console, ending production of physical copies and stopping certain online store support features.

Backers have been offered a full refund or the opportunity to switch to an alternative platform. We are saddened to hear this and also concerned about Sony’s intentions with the Store support as well. More as we get it.
